What does the literature/evidence show about what types of messages seem to be most effective? |
||
The most effective messages were in the 1980s when commercial, posters, and the media displayed the images of people with full-blown HIV/AIDS. Presently, there is too much censorship and the realities of HIV/AIDS are concealed from the public eye. This in turn creates a false sense of security. Literature and evidence shows that the combination of behavior interventions, including school-based programs, peer-to-peer interventions, strategies that limit needle sharing, strategies that use parent-to-child communication, client-centered counseling, and personalized risk-reduction strategies, are effective in promoting behaviors that were protective against HIV/AIDS. |
